Behind every service, every meal delivered, and every helping hand in Southwest Florida, there are people who show up. Our annual events connect our communities to the programs and resources available through AAASWFL, celebrate the people who make it all possible, and shine a light on the needs of older adults and adults with disabilities across Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee, and Sarasota counties.
Every day, volunteers across Southwest Florida give their time so that a senior has a warm meal, a caregiver gets a moment of relief, or an adult with a disability feels seen. On February 27, 2026, we gathered for our inaugural Waves of Compassion Awards Luncheon to say thank you. This event honored the individuals whose quiet, steady service creates real change in the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities in our community. We are deeply grateful to the sponsors who helped bring this celebration to life.

The Older Americans Act has been the foundation of community-based services for older adults since 1965. Our OAA Open House is an opportunity to see that legacy in action, to meet the staff and partners who deliver these programs every day, and to learn how services like Meals on Wheels, caregiver support, and health and wellness programs are making a difference right here in our seven-county region. This is your invitation to walk through our doors, ask questions, and see the heart behind the work.
