DESCRIPTION:Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a FREE educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a friend or relative. Workshops are offered at Hope Healthcare at Healthpark in Fort Myers.\n\n\n \n\n\nCLASS SIZE IS LIMITED AND ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. See below for registration info.\n\n\n \n\n\nYou will benefit from this class whether you are helping a parent\, a spouse\, a friend\, someone who lives at home\, in a nursing home\, or across the country. Classes will teach you how to:\n\n\n+ Reduce stress associated with caregiving\n\n\n+ Balance your life\n\n\n+ Improve your self-confidence\n\n\n+ Better communicate your feelings\n\n\n+ Increase your ability to make tough caregiving decisions\n\n\n+ Locate helpful resources for caregivers in your community\n\n\n \n\n\nThis class series meets once a week for six weeks\, beginning Friday\, May 1 at Hope Healthcare Meeting Room C (9470 Healthpark Circle\, Fort Myers).\n\n\n \n\n\nTO REGISTER:\n\n\nAdvance registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Are you new to Medicare? Are you concerned about making the right choices for your needs? Join us for Medicare 101! \nMedicare 101 is a well-rounded FREE presentation covering the basics of Medicare for those soon to be eligible as well as those currently on Medicare. Participants will learn the basics of Medicare Parts A\, B\, C and D\, discover more about the many plan options available. \nThe presentation will be given by a professionally trained counselor of the SHINE/SMP (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders/Senior Medicare Patrol) program. The Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ SHINE program provides free\, unbiased information and assistance for Florida Medicare beneficiaries year-round as they carefully evaluate their health care options. \nSHINE empowers seniors\, their caregivers\, and family members to make informed decisions about health care coverage. SHINE counselors can also help beneficiaries understand benefits available through Medicare\, like preventative health care services. Additionally\, SHINE counselors assist low-income Medicare beneficiaries with applying for cost-savings programs. As part of the national SMP program\, counselors also educate beneficiaries to protect\, detect\, and report potential errors\, fraud\, and abuse with their Medicare coverage. \nFor more information about the Medicare 101 presentation\, or to receive one-on-one Medicare counseling assistance from SHINE\, Call the Elder Helpline at 866-413-5337 (866-41-ELDER).
