DESCRIPTION:You can help people change their lives! \nJoin the Area Agency on Aging for SWFL to become certified as a workshop leader for the Stanford University Chronic Disease Self-Management Program! (CDSMP) \nThe CDSMP helps people with chronic conditions to manage their own health\, stay active\, and take charge of their lives. \nThis four-day training program is FREE with a commitment to lead CDSMP workshops on behalf of the Area Agency on Aging. You must attend all four days to training to qualify to receive certification. \nTraining is held on two consecutive Wed/Thurs: \nNovember 6-7 and November 13-14.\nTraining will be held at the Sarasota County Terrace Building near the Sarasota County government complex. DESCRIPTION:Learn the Basics of Medicare and Open Enrollment\nJoin the Area Agency on Aging for SWFL at a FREE presentation covering your many Medicare options and how to prepare for the Open Enrollment Period.  Participants will learn the basics of Medicare Parts A\, B\, C and D and discover more about the many plan options available. \nMedicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7\, and for many who rely on Medicare\, it is your only opportunity to change your plan. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to determine if your plan is still the right plan for you! \nFree Event! DESCRIPTION:Get Free Counseling on your Medicare Options\nMedicare Open Enrollment is from October 15 through December 7 each year.  This is the best time for Medicare Beneficiaries to carefully evaluate their health care needs.  Beneficiaries can get free help evaluating their Medicare plans and coverage at Open Enrollment Events hosted by the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida and SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) \nOpen Enrollment Counseling sessions feature specially trained SHINE volunteer counselors who provide free\, unbiased information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries.  Counseling is provided by appointment only at this site.
