DESCRIPTION:A class for family caregivers\nPowerful Tools for Caregivers is a FREE educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a friend or relative. You will benefit from this class whether you are helping a parent\, a spouse\, a friend\, someone who lives at home\, in a nursing home\, or across the country.  Workshops will teach you how to: \n\nReduce stress associated with caregiving\nBalance your life\nImprove your self-confidence\nBetter communicate your feelings\nIncrease your ability to make tough caregiving decisions\nLocate helpful resources for caregivers in your community\n\nThis class series meets once a week for six weeks. DESCRIPTION:The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida is offering a free eight-week Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program workshop in South Fort Myers. Participants will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting October 22 at The Lee County Wa-Ke Hatchee Park and Recreation Center. \nAlthough this program is free\, participants are asked to pay a one-time Wa-Ke Hatchee membership fee of $10 to register. \nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required. See below for registration information. \nAbout the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program:\nMany older adults experience pain and stiffness resulting from Arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is designed for adults 60 and over to reduce pain and stiffness\, build strong muscle around their joints\, increase energy\, and reduce the risk of developing other health problems. \nThe Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is a eight-week evidence-based class led by a certified instructor. The gentle exercises learned in these workshops are fun and easy to learn\, and may be done either standing or sitting. \nTo Register:\nTo register for the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program\, contact the Wa-Ke Hatchee Rec Center at 239-432-2154. DESCRIPTION:Get Free Counseling on your Medicare Options\nMedicare Open Enrollment is from October 15 through December 7 each year.  This is the best time for Medicare Beneficiaries to carefully evaluate their health care needs.  Beneficiaries can get free help evaluating their Medicare plans and coverage at Open Enrollment Events hosted by the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida and SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) \nOpen Enrollment Counseling sessions feature specially trained SHINE volunteer counselors who provide free\, unbiased information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries.  No appointments are necessary for drop-in open enrollment sessions. \nWhat to Bring to Open Enrollment Counseling\nPlease bring your Medicare card as well as information about your health and prescription drug coverage.  To best evaluate your Medicare plan options\, SHINE volunteers will need a list of medications taken (including dosages)\, a list of your preferred providers (doctors/pharmacies)\, and any notices you’ve received from your existing plan\, Social Security\, secondary insurance\, or Medicare. \nIf possible\, before your counseling visit\, visit the new Medicare Plan Finder website and create an account.  This will expedite the process during your open enrollment counseling session. \nFor more information about the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida\, check our online calendar or call the Elder Helpline toll-free at 866-413-5337. \nLearn more about SHINE at http://www.floridaSHINE.org
