Participants will meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons\, starting August 1 at the Hope Cape Community Room (2430 Diplomat Pkwy E.\, Cape Coral) \nAbout Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention:\nTai Chi is a low-impact form of Chinese martial arts that involves slow\, controlled\, flowing movements. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention is designed for adults 60 and over to reduce pain and stiffness from arthritis\, build strong muscle around joints\, increase energy and prevent other health problems.   Tai Chi can also help improve hand-eye coordination\, enhance health and fitness\, improve balance\, reduce stress and provide a gentle aerobic workout.   Tai Chi for Arthritis for Falls Prevention is an 8-week\, 16 session workshop. \nFunding for this program is provided by a grant for disease prevention and health promotion under the 2018 Older Americans Act\, Title IIID\, through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

SUMMARY:A Matter of Balance Volunteer Training
DESCRIPTION:AAASWFL is looking for volunteers to lead A Matter of Balance (MOB)\, a proven program designed to help older adults manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity. \nMOB Coaches conduct the MOB program to help participants become more confident about managing falls\, help to identify ways to reduce falls\, and lead exercises to help increase strength and balance. \nWhat do you need to be a coach? \n\nGood communication and interpersonal skills\nEnthusiasm\, dependability and a willingness to lead small groups of older adults\nAbility to lead low to moderate level exercise\nAbility to work well with a co-facilitator\nAbility to conduct at least 2 MOB workshops within one year\n\nFor all new coaches\, a MOB Coach Training will be held on August 27-28\, 2019 at the Sarasota Friendship Center (1888 Brother Geenen Way).
