Please RSVP by calling 239-765-4222 \nMedicare 101 is a well-rounded presentation covering the basics of Medicare for those soon to be eligible as well as those currently on Medicare. Participants will learn the basics of Medicare Parts A\, B\, C and D\, discover more about the many plan options available. \nThe Feb 6 Medicare 101 presentation will be part of the Town of Fort Myers Beach Parks & Recreation department’s Potluck series\, starting at noon. \nThe presentation will feature Pat Archambault\, a professionally trained counselor of the SHINE/SMP (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders/Senior Medicare Patrol) program. The Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ SHINE program provides free\, unbiased information and assistance for Florida Medicare beneficiaries year-round as they carefully evaluate their health care options. SHINE is administered locally by the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida. \nParticipants are asked to RSVP for the event by calling the Bay Oaks Recreational Campus at 239-765-4222. \nSHINE empowers seniors\, their caregivers\, and family members to make informed decisions about health care coverage. SHINE counselors can also help beneficiaries understand benefits available through Medicare\, like preventative health care services. Additionally\, SHINE counselors assist low-income Medicare beneficiaries with applying for cost-savings programs. DESCRIPTION:AAASWFL and Right At Home are hosting a two-day workshop to train class leaders for Powerful Tools for Caregivers. \nPowerful Tools for Caregivers is a caregiver support workshop that helps family caregivers deal with the unique strain of providing care for a loved one.  Caregivers learn how to reduce stress\, improve self-confidence\, balance their lives\, communicate their feelings\, improve their decision-making skills\, and locate helpful resources. \nThe two-day training is free for volunteers who commit to leading classes for AAASWFL.  You must attend both days to earn your certification. \nClass size is limited and advance registration is required.  Call Sherry Young at 866-413-5337 or email her for more details.
