Director of Programs & Planning

The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) seeks an organized, detail-oriented management professional for a Director of Programs and Planning vacancy.  The ideal candidate has experience in compliance, government contracts, and/or grant administration.

Completion of an online assessment is required for all potential applicants (see below).

The Director of Programs and Planning is a member of AAASWFL’s senior management team who is responsible for overseeing the responsibilities of the Programs and Planning department. This includes monitoring all contracted service providers for program compliance, assisting providers in understanding program policies and procedures, overseeing the completion of the agency’s Area Plan and facilitating the annual monitoring of the Agency by the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA). The Director of Programs and Planning develops and maintains a master comprehension of the DOEA Programs and Services Handbook and is also responsible for training and data analysis tasks.  This position also oversees the Veteran-Directed Home and Community Based Services program staff.

The ideal candidate should have a four-year degree and a minimum of three years of related professional experience, preferably with knowledge of aging services.

Intake Specialist (Long-Term Care Services Specialist)

The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) seeks a strong communicator with human services experience, excellent interpersonal skills and initiative for a Long Term Care Services Specialist vacancy.

Completion of an online assessment is required for all potential applicants (see below).

The Long Term Care Services Specialist is responsible for screening older adults and adults with disabilities for Medicaid and non-Medicaid related services.  These assessments are performed over the phone, using a standardized screening tool.  These specialists strive to provide efficient, timely, and consumer-friendly services to individuals in need of government-funded elder care and disability services.

In addition to excellent customer service and communication skills, Long Term Care Services Specialists must also have strong computer talents to effectively enter and track client data. Applications should have related experience as a caseworker, case manager, intake specialist, or have other familiarity with the long term care client population.

Helpline Specialist (Information & Referral Call Center)

AAASWFL is seeking an empathetic specialist to provide information, referral and intake services to consumers, their caregivers and other professionals. The specialist needs excellent interpersonal and computer skills to provide non-biased information.

Information and Referral Specialists are the “face of the agency,” often serving as peoples’ first point of contact with AAASWFL. I&R Specialists primarily work with consumers via telephone; they are excellent, unbiased listeners who strive to provide excellent customer service through the Agency’s Elder Helpline.
