Program Specialists at the Area Agency on Aging are responsible for assisting the Director of Programs to develop, coordinate, implement and administer program planning, quality assurance, and program evaluation activities of the Agency.
These individuals are experts in the requirements, rules and regulations governing each grant program as it relates to their administration and management, providing technical assistance to the Agency’s sub-grantees, subcontractors, service providers and vendors. The Program Specialist promotes person-centered services and the well-being of older adults and adults with disabilities. This position requires a high degree of organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and initiative.

Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) is looking for a responsible, qualified self-starter to manage and coordinate the Elder Helpline. This position oversees Information and Referral staff, provides monitoring and oversight for both quality assurance and outcome measurement. the Information & Referral manager also acts as a liaison with community agencies regarding the needs of, and resources available to, seniors and persons with disabilities. This position requires a high degree of independent action and initiative.
AAASWFL is seeking an empathetic specialist to provide information, referral and intake services to consumers, their caregivers and other professionals. The specialist needs excellent interpersonal and computer skills to provide non-biased information.
Information and Referral Specialists are the “face of the agency,” often serving as peoples’ first point of contact with AAASWFL. I&R Specialists primarily work with consumers via telephone; they are excellent, unbiased listeners who strive to provide excellent customer service through the Agency’s Elder Helpline.
