Long-Term Care Services Specialist

Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida seeks a qualified and compassionate Long-Term Care Services Specialist.  This is a part time position (24-29 hours per week) located at our North Fort Myers headquarters.

Long-Term Care Services Specialists help elders and adults with disabilities who wish to apply for government-funded services. These specialists provide excellent customer service, screening applicants for eligibility for Medicaid and non-Medicaid services. They help seniors and people with disabilities understand their care options and explain eligibility requirements.  Long-Term Care Services Specialists have great phone skills, are adept interviewers and good listeners, and are quick thinkers with strong data entry skills.

Successful applicants will hold a Bachelors’ Degree in human services or a minimum four years’ experience as a caseworker, case manager, intake specialist, or similar work experience with the long-term care client population.  Successful completion of a Level II background screening is also required.

Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) is seeking an empathetic specialist to provide information, referral and intake services to consumers, their caregivers and other professionals. The specialist needs excellent interpersonal and computer skills to provide non-biased information.

Information and Referral Specialists are the “face of the agency,” often serving as peoples’ first point of contact with AAASWFL. I&R Specialists primarily work with consumers via telephone; they are excellent, unbiased listeners who strive to provide excellent customer service through the Agency’s Elder Helpline.
